Are there specific industries that the National Safety Council is targeting with this Challenge?
All industries which utilize “Lockout, Tagout” protocols are in scope for this Challenge.
Are non-US responses welcome?
Generally, yes. Some countries are excluded due to US federal law. Please find a link to the countries which are not permitted here.
Can I submit more than once?
If you have more than one in-scope technology, please consider submitting a response for each relevant approach.
If your technologies interconnect to provide a comprehensive approach to “Lockout, Tagout” safety, consider submitting a single response which describes the unified system as a whole. In the event of multiple submissions from the same respondent, only the highest rated response will be considered for advancement.
Can academics participate in the Challenge?
Purely academic efforts are not of interest. Technologies spun out of university laboratories, however, are potentially of interest, if a commercial entity has been formed or if one is actively participating in the commercialization of the technology.
Can I propose a technology that wasn’t originally developed for “Lockout, Tagout”?
If you can provide meaningful information about its effectiveness and can clearly demonstrate its applicability to a workplace setting, then the National Safety Council can consider it.
